On Site Internet

Being away from the office and trying to file a report before you forgot the vital points, or urgently needing a file that is held on your computer back in the office are some of the trials experienced by many of us.  For those of you who travel away from the office regularly, these issues can be daily occurances.  It's even worse for staff who are sent to a remote site where there may be no telecoms infrastructure to connect into.  And do you really want your staff filing reports, sending project information and emails from an Internet Cafe?

The IT Bureau has a solution for off-site workers. Our OnSite Office server will create a wireless hotspot for your team, together with an internet connectiont, and provide a secure office environment.  We can also provide a ruggedised version that runs off a 12V battery. With the OnSite Office server, you have Internet connectivity via a mobile 3G data card (from any operator), an internal wireless access point for connecting laptops, together with a server that can be configured for your IT requirements. In order to ensure security with the WiFi zone that is created, the system acts like a "hotspot", trapping any unauthorised attempts to access the network. This can also be used to allow occasional access from third parties if required.   Connecting couldn't be easier. Subscribe to a mobile data service and we will configure the card to talk to our system, then you and your staff can stay in touch with the office.

  • Staff are able to report progress from site.
  • Sales requests can be sent back to the office and acted on immediately.
  • Not dependent upon hotel connections or Internet cafes.
  • Several staff have access with one connection.

The mobile operators are now starting to expand their 3G coverage together with second generation data cards and a service cost that is acceptable to businesses of any size. After a lot of false dawns, the potential to put a team on a fresh site with no infrastructure and provide the IT requried to maximise efficiency can now be realised.  WiFi, or wireles LAN, techology has also matured. It is now a standard element in a new laptop and many homes connect to broadband using a wireless router. With the success of this technology, we have seen a growing number of wireless hotspots at airports, hotels, stations, etc. The OnSite Office server uses these two wireless technologies to provide a secure hotspot for your team without a need for a wired broadband connection. The 3G provides the Internet access, and the server provides the secured hotspot. The server can be configured to provide a variety of services to the local site, for example: file shares, local mail server, a cache for large drawings or pictures, and a video camera server for security.  Using low power components, the OnSite Office server is designed to work from noisy supplies and will accept unsmoothed 12V. With an external antenna, the unit can be fixed inside a vehicle, making it simple to deploy and giving good WiFi coverage.

On Site Internet would be beneficial for Construction workers; Site Surveyors; Sales Personnel; Event Managers; Anyone who works away from the office reguarly and needs to keep in touch.
